Efficacy of Lupron Depot in Uterine Fibroids
For women with anemia due to uterine fibroids, Lupron Depot in combination with iron provides improvement in hematocrit and hemoglobin counts.1
Percent of Patients Achieving Hematocrit ≥36% and Hemoglobin ≥12g/dL
In a study of women with hematocrit ≤30% and/or hemoglobin ≤10.2 g/dL, 75% of women who received Lupron Depot 3.75 mg concomitantly with iron achieved clinical response at three months.1 These patients demonstrated a hematocrit increase ≥6% and hemoglobin increase ≥2 g/dL.1
Lupron Depot 3.75 mg was also found to relieve symptoms of bloating, pelvic pain, and pressure.1 Clinical studies have shown a decrease in uterine and myoma volume, 41% and 37% respectively.1 Menorrhagia or menometrorrhagia was relieved in 80% of patients.1
Reversible Amenorrhea
In studies of women in which enrollment was not based on hematological status, 95% of these patients became amenorrheic, with 61%, 25%, and 4% experiencing amenorrhea during the first, second, and third treatment months respectively.1 This effect is reversible upon discontinuation of Lupron Depot.1
